This is how I said goodbye to Nicole who said she found someone else.

Goodbye Nicole
by Barbara Lynn Terry

She talked to me
that she couldn't be
my lover, my wife
because she had found
someone else in her life.

I tried to tell her that she
could be here with me
and she said no way
because she'd rather be
away from me.

So I knuckled up like a growing pup
and said good luck, goodbye
and I will cancel the flight
that would take me to you
and that is the thing I cannot do.

I have my life to live,
life goals to complete
so many years I have strived
to be this girl in me
and to that end
I must be true to me.

I'm sure this was painful, but the way you write about it shows the healing process in well under way.

Sadness moment when someone which was never hit tell the hurting one to roll with the punches.
Yes, it hurts, hurts like hell, but then again, after you been hit a few times it doesn't hurt anymore, because you know the punch is coming.
And then, you don't need to roll with any of them.
