Where Did All The Innocence Go?

Where did all the innocence go
that we saw at the movie show?
Whatever happened to the tv shows
that we used to love and know?
Whatever happened to the Rat Patrol
and how did we lose control?

Whatever happened to Ward and June
Wally and the Beaver too?
Whatever happened to Clark Kent
and the steel he bent?
Where did Dennis and Margaret go
in that funny tv show?

Where did all the innocence go
so many moons ago?
Whatever happened to Stu and Jeff
and Kookie's witty best?
Whatever happened to Donna, Alex,
Jeff and Mary Stone?

Why are we so alone?

Where did Grampa, Luke, Hassie
and Little Luke McCoy go,
in that silly family tv show?
Whatever happend to Our Miss Brooks
and the liberties she took?
Is it safer just to read a book?

And not in the mirror look.

Whatever happened to Pa and Jethro
Granny and Ellie Mae?
These were the shows of our day.
They taught us how to love and
have respect and the God above.
So where did all the innocence go?

Whatever happened to Andy, Opie and
And Aunt Bee too?
Where can we go to see a simpler way of life,
with deputy Barney Fife?
Whatever happened,
happened to the best of me.

Whatever happened to Roy and Dale, Pat and Nellybelle?
If they were to play these movies again
I would enjoy them very well.
Will we ever see these shows again
and our hero Rin Tin Tin?

There are so many movie and tv shows
that we used to love and know.
Wouldn't it be great to Sing Along With Mitch
and try to stay in tune?
And where did he go that Richie Rich?

I don't need my analyst to show
me what I already know.
The movies today are filled with violence,
crime and sex
so just give me a song by Tex.
