I know my situation is not unique, but it seemed better to look for the humorous side of confusion rather than admit to complete bafflement in the face of change.
Friendlier Today I found new friends Well, not exactly I haven’t met a one But each knows someone I know And somehow they knew How to find and friend me. I used to have few friends And knew details about them Now I have tons of “friends” A sky of few bright stars Is now ablaze with Whizzing anonymous orbits. I know I’ve gained something So far it has no name Am I richer or poorer? As a challenged older model Equipped with insufficient bandwidth I’m reluctant even to guess. No worry there’s an app for that And I’ll install it now Soon I’ll report more On friendship in cyber society Confusion will evaporate And I’ll be truly friendlier. Charles B. Neff 12/3/15

My hope is that you can turn these so-called "friends" into "fans," thereby creating a ready market for your books as these rabid groupies snatch up anything you write with their disposable cash. But beware too much recognition or you will be hounded by paparazzi trying to befriend you.
