Climbing from the turbulent sea
I collapsed on the land in front of me
Majestic mountains reaching out of sight
brought into me a brand new fright

I was not home, this land unknown
No one in sight, I’m all alone
Undaunted and determined, exploration ensues
Stepping on thorns, I wish I brought shoes

Mile after mile my journey sapping my strength
Think I’ll nap for a time of limited length
I was awoken by voices, yells and screams
What happened next was a nightmare of dreams.

Before I knew it I was covered in a net
And thrown in a cart smelly and wet
There were others in the cart as well
Stories of slave hunters they did tell

The cart stopped at a local town square
Where I was stripped down to my green underwear.
People called out prices and raised their hand
It seems I was sold for less than a grand.

My owner said learn to fight, or die in the arena
Desperation prompted a prayer to Goddess Athena
Give me strength, fortitude and skill to pursue
my ultimate goal to live and find my Sweet Goo.

Overconfidence was my opponent’s downfall
As I won every single challenged brawl
I guess they thought a man of clay
Would be so easy for them to slay.

But weary was I from match after match
Next time I figured my life they could snatch
But my owner had other plans in Rome
It seems I was selected to fight in the big dome

Another fight I could not go through
I lost hope of finding My Goo
This will be my last event
My life I will now relent

The man with a crown of gold
Began speaking, and this he told
The gladiator who wins today’s contest
Will be rewarded with the kingdoms best

My finest slave will be his wife
and freedom given, without further strife.
Gumby thought it grand to be free
But a slave girl is not for me

When he looked up to see the girl
He thinks he spotted a blonde curl
Then a glint of blue peeked through
And behind her veils he saw it was Goo.

Needless to say,
Gumby fought hard that day
And with only one man left to slay
Gumby felt the cold steel pierce his clay

He swayed a bit and fell to the ground
Mouths were open of all those around
Just when the challenger thought he was champion
Goo stood up and threw Gumby a glue gun

Now with the wound properly patched
It was Gumby’s sword that was dispatched
The challenger fell with a loud grunt,
Thus ending Gumby’s long hunt.

He and Goo are together again
In the greatest story of now and then
