Vermins Retreat

Poem Artwork



Laughter echoes in the background,
as knifes caress whetstone.
Vermin scurry in anticipation
of tomorrows tenant
Their narrow eyes watch,
sending signals of salivation to waiting mouths.
Yes soon he will be ours.

The brave ones follow the rope trail
to wrists, legs, and neck,
looking for the tender spots.
With a quick rip and tear, they carry
their trophy before the tormentor returns

He has become their God their savior.
He cranks the wheel three more clicks
stretching ligament and muscle beyond tolerance.
Then Using blades of mirrored finish,
he whittles his prey,
watching life drain from open wounds.
The screams seem to delight him
as another incision is made.
He looks mockingly at his victim,
taunting him with evil chatter

Hah! Royalty is what you were,
now you are only a feast for my little pets.
Castles always fall my friend.
Did you think yours any different?

With that said he gave the wheel
three more clicks,
and patted the poor soul's head
saying I will see you
tomorrow

And tomorrow
