Only those that came back to an empty house would understand the sound of silence left behind, or can smell the perfume of absence, or see the shadows after the light went away, or...

Poem Artwork

Absence covers the heart with sadness shroud,
you enter spaces full of emptiness that before
where full of noises and most delicate scents,
but that was earlier, now love is just a corpse.

Coming back from that nowhere and hearing,
the house’s heart are not beating and no blood
is pumping to make it alive, crack are showing
of despair, in the masonry covering the walls.

Sadness eyes aren’t looking, trembling hands
open one of those letters that are getting brown,
as cruel fingers made of the coldest ice will stab
with every letter forming a blade of every word.

Dreams of yesterday, emotions flying very high,
to where all was possible, tenderness and hope,
no wings were burned for flying so near the sun,
love make you an angel, and angels don’t fall.

Now, just an empty room full of empty space,
the witches of absence cackling, smiles no more,
as if awakening inside a demoniacal ice cathedral
where even flames of the burning fire are cold.

The only sound heard is when the broken echoes
of many promises of forever hit hard the floor
whit the finality of a end of a tunnel to nowhere,
you will feel no more alive, you will feel alone.

Sadness abound in this well written powerfully charged poem. I sometimes feel this same sadness Georg, now that I am living alone after being with my family for 32 years. It does seem very lonely at times. One day we will both fill this sadness and not be lonely any more.
Wonderful poetry as always, I enjoy reading your work.
Peace, love, and light,

I feel your sadness along with your grief in this poem, Georg; going back to an empty house ain't easy. Be well, and safe, and find the happiness in your life now...that you deserve.

Brother Edvard,no one can go so deep and find the core of anguish that such loss causes. This poem is a lament for all those poor warriors that come home to nothing, and oh how woeful it is!Superb writing big brother!

"A house is not a home..." even the biggest castles in the world can be empty and full of sadness without the ones we love. You are THE poet!
I believe the heart without God will be full of sadness, whether in an empty house or among crowds of people.

Wow Georg, it brings back many memories and the emotions that go with it. A home once warm and filled with love and laughter and in the blink of an eye turns to emptiness and silence, very touching...

Be always safe,
Karen

Dear Georg, Oh My! Returning to a an empty house is awakening the echos of many who once were there and warmed our heart. I know this feeling. God fill those who feel the emptiness with his love and give them the courage and the strength to continue their life.
Very well described, my friend, the emptiness which is well known to us. Love Emile

Georg - I felt the lonliness of the empty house you write of, and the coldness. Especially effective in the first stanza are the lines,

Absence covers the heart with sadness shroud,
and,
but that was earlier, now love is just a corpse.

and especially these lines,

Now, just an empty room full of empty space,
the witches of absence cackling,

Love the photo, too. - David

Wounded Eagle, the aloneness in this write is really felt by this one! It's sad, because aloneness isn't a condition that's the fault of the one alone, and should be the on the ones that caused it. It's the ones like us who are alone who hear, feel and have to live with those broken echoes. Just know this, you are no longer alone, my friend. For real....

Georg,
Your verses are stunning in this write, I can feel pain in every word. A while back I went back to the house we all grew up in as children, it was decayed and run down to say the least. In my mind I could still hear children laughing and playing, I could hear the squeaking of the old swing outside. But in reality there was only silence. Very loud silence...

Many blessings,
~Linda
