Scary times

They swarmed like Army Ants
A mass of arms, legs, and bodies
Attacking the vulnerable en masse
Killing without empathy only mob mentality

 Reviews of "The mob"

There's something about the mob mentality. It happens when otherwise peaceful, normal people, suddenly become violent and angry, doing awful things. Afterward, many regret what they had done.

Your poem warns us how easy it is to fall in with the mob.

Following from the teachings of Gandhi, I just saw a documentary on Martin Luther King. He had the uncanny ability to keep his protesters from becoming an angry mob. He taught them how to to retreat and/or retain a positive attitude when being set upon and beaten by angry mobs. It was a strength, brought on by numbers of peaceful people, that changed the attitude of the United States for the better.

We dare not fall back into that kind of hatre again. History must march forward, not backward.
