rain dance

sheets of rain
sheets
solid water all around
two boys
dancing in the courtyard
arms open
faces upturned
laughing at the rain gods
soaking wet
they point at me
I shake my head
and smile
this is what
life is
ripping shirts off in the rain
stomping puddles
shoes who cares
what matters is
this moment
the rareness of the skies
opening full throttle
and two boys
seizing the joy
open arms
heaven water splashing smiling faces
and I want
to
play
too
