Fessing Up

By

h. lena jones

Pssssst! I have a confession to make

‘cause I’ve lived with these phobias far too long.

Maybe if I shared them, expose them as impostors

They will finally take flight!

So, here I go

I have a phobia about dogs, heights, and water!

Yep, that’s it!

My body turns to stone if there is a dog in my path…

My knees turn to jelly, if I’m standing at any height

And when it comes to water, for instance in a pool,

My feet must touch the bottom, or I panic like…I just panic!

In my mind I’ve concluded that my spirit

Must have had a pretty bad experience once upon a time

I must have been chased by a dog

Climbed up a tree

Slipped and fell into a pool…

And heaven knows what happened next!

Thus my phobia…and now you know!

But since I don’t believe in past lives and such

And that there is nothing to fear, but fear itself

When next I’m faced with dogs, heights, and water

I’ll look them straight in the proverbial eye and say

“God hath not given us the spirit of fear;

But of power, and of love, and of a

Sound mind!”

We are born with two fears. Heights and loud noises. After seeing police chased by a pitbull in Texas, I can understand that one. Even though I laughed till I cried..

Hydraphobia. Don't that come from rabies.

Conclude:

So bit by a rabid dog, whilst walking over the Niagara Falls?

The cure is to do the same, but you must bite the rabid dog on its left ear, at dawn on the equinox... Never heard of it failing...(or suceeding come to think of it)

Some say fear is the absence of faith. I believe it is only a momentary lapse in faith. Keep praying and who knows, someday a dog may save you from drowning or falling off a cliff. OK, so I'm trying to be funny. That was a great write.
God Bless,
Lew
