I Wouldn't Recommend It

I simply had to pen this write as a follow-up to my earlier prose: Who Are You!

I Wouldn’t Recommend It

by

h. lena jones

I don’t know about you

But I have an investigative mind

So when told that we are all gods

I had to find out for myself

You know, just like the Berean folk

Who searched Scripture to verify

If what the Apostle Paul said was true !

The first thing I tried to do as god

Was turn water into wine!

So I filled several earthen jars with water

Then told hubby to dip some out

Needless to say…there was

Only water in his glass!

Strike one!

Next, I called a gathering of several thousand folk

And told them I would feed them dinner

With just five loaves and two fish

Guess what?

I failed once again

Five loaves and two fish

Didn’t quite do the job!

Strike two!

Okay, I can’t be wrong three times in a row

So up to the plate I went with confidence

I could certainly raise the dead

All I had to say was

“So and so come forth”

Nope, sorry folks

The cat remains dead as a door nail

Even when I called him forth by name!

Strike three!

I would have tried walking on water

In our swimming pool

But alas!

I can't swim!

What kind of a god am I

If everything I tried to do

Only resulted in total failure

What exactly am I doing wrong, I ask?

“Trying to be what I’m not, that’s what!”

And so to you, my beloved friend, I say with kindness

I wouldn’t recommend trying to be God, no way, no how

Be content with being a Child of God; nothing more nothing less

For this is what the Apostle Paul had to say in Galatians 3 verse 26

“For ye are all Children of God

By faith in Christ Jesus.”

Guess what?

I believe Him!

Precisely, Tom. I sincerely hope you would realize that we are not all gods, as you say. Remember what happened to Lucifer when he tried to usurp God...

I believe Him, too. He is the only God for ME!! :) Well done, Lena, we are created in His image, and while we can create some T H I N G S, we fail miserably in all other areas of Godhood. :)

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Amen I believe too! For the bible teaches me that there is only one true God. We are too not put any God before Him as well. We are but humble servants and children of His...great write, very inspiring.

And I believe Him too Lena. Totally!!!

The Mormons believe that we are all little gods, as was Jesus. Such deception never ceases to amaze me. I believe what the book says - in the end every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. I believe it, and apparently everyone else will too at some point in time, even as they're being ushered into hell.

Blessings ...

There are many in this world who still want to be as equal to God. God is the Creator and we expect to be like him. But as John said in the gospel "He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God." You have a special gift to get God's word across, dear Lena, without being 'in your face' and pushy. I respect that and learn so much by your gentle and loving approach. This poem was wonderful! Thank you for my Lena-ism for the day -- I've come to rely on them!
Much love,
CJ

Brilliant, Lena!
Chuck Swindoll once spoke of imagining SHIRLEY MCLAINE STANDING ON THE SANDY SHORE LOOKING OUT AT THE OCEAN AND CRYING OUT IN HER WEE LITTLE VOICE, "i am god!!!!!"
"Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth" Isaiah 40:28

Amen!

Chuckle... Seriously though, can you imagine how frustrated God must feel when he sees what so many of us have become? I am sure glad he has the capacity to forgive.
God Bless,
Lew
