This one has been around before. Some people say it is a very erotic poem but I just don't see that. It is very tongue in cheek, an extended double - entendre really. I have been asked in the past am I still with the lady. Well, seducer or seduced, she is no lady but she still turns me on as often as I turn her over.
Seduction
Step 1. Courtship rutuals
She flirts with me,
invites my attention,
rejects my advances,
refuses the gift I would
bestow on her, declines
to give me her virginity.
I can find no seed
to make her fertile,
the mother to my creations
I cannot be their father,
cannot articulate
my desire in a way
worthy of her chastity.
Step 2. Consummation
At last I respond to her taunts,
conjure inspiration stiletto like
to penetrate her reluctance.
I weave metaphors to charm her,
Conceits and lies to dazzle her modesty.
She hesitates. I wait, my stylus poised
ready to make her mine. She yields
to the soft touch of my words,
a caress that fulfils her purpose,
makes us partners, bound forever.
Step 3. Afterglow
I relax,
light a cigarette
and sit back, satisfied
reviewing what I’ve done
Step 4. Self - justification
It was her, I tell you.
She led me on,
Flaunted her blankness
To inflame my desire.
She lay there naked,
Taunting me,
mocking my impotence
until, passions roused,
I filled her whiteness
with my ink.

So, did you ever finish the whole damned novel or not, you kinky fool? Deliciously you've pricked the page, love. That last endearment is harmless, of course.
I like the playful ambiguity of meanings in this one, Ian. It could be about seducing a woman with conversation, or seducing a blank page with the sensuality of a poet's words... the readers are left to make up their own minds. Thanks for posting this one...

... ahhh, the virgin page: the poet's harlot and muse sublime. i really like this.

Hmmm.. I suppose, as usual, I'm the last to "get it".. but before I read the other comments, it seemed clear to me that you were describing the process of writing... composing... sigh.. are they right? is it writer's block? Ah well.. it appealed to me as I've already described and I don't care which it is because I nearly collapsed at the sheer intelligence and absolute creativity in this piece, Ian... It's simply a damned fine poem! Lovely.. katy xox.
Pure and poetic {if that spelling is correct} charming/suductive way to describe writers block Ian!!
Hehehehe......but did do something else to the mind too I must admit!!

As long as you are both happy that is the important thing. Wonderful write and I do see why many have felt it is erotic. I also can see the tongue in cheek. Great write.
Writers block always ends the same as it starts..all at once. No matter how deep we suffer or try as we may to fill those blank screens and endless sheets of paper..all we manage to accomplish is frustration and aggrivation. Then one day..it all comes to us like the flip of a switch!
Excellent in it's imagery Ian. Lisa
