The Shore
(dedicated to my grandchildren)

The chatter flows, tumbling as chasing waves,
Until each thought, each breath of laughter, blends
Into the next, and I am like the shore...
Absorbing all, embracing all... each pulse
Of life fills me with love, goodness and faith.
And still, I feel sadness.. joy, bittersweet
For their innocent play is so fleeting.
If only I could grant their forevers...
Alas, I can but give them love and be
The shore that absorbs their innocence.

A poetic bouquet to please the mermaids of the ocean of life, to make Proteus show beatiful face, and Poseidon smile listening to the recital of "The Shore".

I salute You, Poet.

I used to tell my lad at age 3. Stop growing..."I can't daddy" If only that innocence could last with everychild forever..

I remember my mother telling me she hated cleaning tiny handprints off glass doors after my children had visited. Such a beautiful and loving sentiment.
