"Let Me Sit Beside You"

Night, dark and deep, falls
In blue curtained heaviness, sadness
Dampens the folds, paling
Its diamond-dusted display.
I weep, alone, cradling my soul...
Longing, yearning, searching
For a peace I once knew..
An absolution to my torment.

Whispers, faint but persistent,
Move within my draped solitude,
Like memories that do not fade
And will not relent.
Words I have heard before drift
Upon the stillness.

'Let my eyes drink a sky of stars
And paint them upon your soul.
Let me quench your thirst
With the still waters of silver moon.
And soothe the bitter taste
Of grief that lays upon your tongue.
Let me warm you in midnight velvet
Easing the chill of uncertainty.
Let me fill you with the promise
Of morning... and sing for you
A hymn of new beginnings.
Let my breath be yours
Until you can breathe again.
Let my name linger within your heart
And let me sit beside you.'

Is this not what I long for...
Peace and hope?
'Let my eyes drink a sky of stars...
Let my breath be yours.'
Reaching out...timid hands
Part velvet curtains
And I see Faith waiting there
Holding unshed tears.

'Let me quench your thirst...
'Let me sit beside you.'

And I do.
I believe it is time.

This beautiful and deeply loving poem has been inside you for many months, years even. Knowing a bit about you, I am so glad to see that you can put most of it into wondrous words... to share with friends who are admirers of your writing and you. Beauty is not word enough for what has been said here. This composition is beyond my simple words, and is truly one of your best ever written.
- With great respect Lovey - Bill
