sometimes I wonder if perhaps
we simply stumble upon life;
not the living and breathing, of course,
but the enjoying of it, the 'being glad
I didn't miss that' part of it.
like the sunset you almost missed
because you just weren't looking,
but at that last moment, just before
the sun winked away, you turned your eyes
skyward...and stumbled upon perfection.
maybe it was that wrong turn you took
and found yourself hopelessly lost,
stopped for directions,
stayed for two hours visiting with people
you had just met.. and stumbled upon friendship.
it could have been as simple as
skipping stones on a stumpy pond
and finally nailing one, after all those years
of trying, only to realize that it did not really
matter anymore .. and stumbled upon contentment.
perhaps it was the moment you stood
in a child's doorway, listened to story time,
along with teddy bears, paper dolls, and the cat,
heard the laughter as she read
from an invisible book... and stumbled upon innocence.
such treasures are simple things really,
those times we almost miss, the memories
of happy accidents and unexpected joys,
and the moments that trip us up ever so slightly,
the best that life has to offer... simple stumbles.
Looking closely at historic moments, when a certain human made a difference, I see you as one who tells us of the wonders which our eyes keep sluffing over, and we fail to see, knowingly, the beauty and love splayed before us. All of this is in this well crafted poem. Thank you for the gift... and the vision.

Oh - my gifted one. What magic you do weave. You've described the sunny part of life so perfectly. "Little things add up to great big joys."
