a friend asked me to 'come read some wine poetry' and since I couldn't do that, I wrote one instead..
Burgundy Dreams
Burgundy dreams
Rest easy upon the souls
Of those who sip
Its memories...
Quenching themselves
Not in gulps of moments
But in the slow tasting of each..
Savoring, inviting the warmth,
Embracing the mellow of yesterday,
Until the last swallow...
Leaving an empty glass
Which but waits to be filled
With the essence
Of memories not yet lived.
I'll drink to that!

and yet, the glass is not really empty...it retains the memory of the wine...my friend, this is one of your best...a concise and vivid piece of exceptional quality.

Myrna, what a perfect wine poem! I always savor a glass of fine wine but I don't think I will ever drink another without remembering this lovely sentiment:
