Where Time Does Not  Linger

in her springtime she walked
with innocence,  painted her dreams
across azure skies, and sought summer

within breaths of discovery... and in
that summer she found passion
in a Midwestern sunset and a bayou

morning, heard love in the laughter
of children, faced mortality as its truth
lay scattered upon winding paths

to autumn... and it was there, in autumn,
she learned that strength was born
in spirit, that time did not linger where

it had already been, and that fallen moments
need not be crushed beneath the weight
of coming winter... instead they may drift

into new springtimes, seek new summers
and perhaps even enjoy another autumn
capturing memories before winter's

frost for life's seasons were not marked
in time, not circled on Hallmark calendars....
but simply felt within the heart
