There is in winter a stillness bleeding
Into the heart of this writer, a quiet musing
Settling itself within the soul, and a thirst,
Seemingly unquenchable, for those words
Which speak of beauty unseen, frost
Melting into footprints, tasting snow
On tongue, smell of pine and sage,
And a sparrow singing of time laid bare.
There is a need to capture winter's touch
In words that will linger long after memories
Have slipped away and the stillness
No longer bleeds.
Oh, my dear friend, what beauty you've created. I love every line but especially, "And a sparrow singing of time laid bare". Only you could write something so lovely.
Love,
Marcia
Myrna, you have captured these things so well...they are more than words, but words that come alive in all the senses, taste, touch, sound, hearing/listening and of course visually.
You've captured Winter in ways most of us don't even think about: they say when one of the senses is gone, others are enhanced: believe it. Beautiful, Myrna!
Myrna, My Surprising Friend, what stunning beauty comes from the page of a talented poet who is "limited" in vision. There are no limits to the scene created here. I felt as if I was there with you... doing what your words related. A touch of genius, here! Your Number Two Fan, - Bill
Awww those special holy moments ..when time stops...and we feel
that connectiveness to ...something greater..to God the universe..
maybe both...great write .....again,
StanN
...and I agree that timeless poetry such as this...holds within it...a season of peace...a wish that speaks to us quietly. What beautiful colors you pen in words...to share.
wonderful write Myrna...

Ah yes, words are immortal and have captured them well. great poem.
Contraband Marriage, traveling along the hemline of loving after incarceration, is a love story written in lyric and free form, set in reality with a different ever after.
This collection of poetry addresses the nature of time, reflections on the natural world, the difficulty of loss,
contemporary social issues and gratitude for life.
Be always safe,

You successfully brought us to the time and place for the 'feel' of this poem and I could taste the snow on the tongue as well.
Bravo.
