While visiting family in the Ozarks this weekend I was treated to a gorgeous sunset which triggered a memory of another long ago. This piece is written in a form developed by EW Richardson which he has named 'Nocturne 143'.

Twilight

When sun slips through scarlet

In the mountains, a breath is heard
Deeply inhaling honeysuckle and pine,
Sipping of moonshine and clear water,
And capturing the stillness of twilight

This... a memory born as time
Claims another day, another moment
Of scarlet sky and sweet silent perfection

"...Of scarlet sky and sweet silent perfection," must be the most soothing line I've read in a long time. The whole thing is a colorful lullaby set in a place most of us only dream about.
Lovely words from a lovely writer/poet. - Bill

Myrna,

Nothing so breathtaking as a beautiful sunset and your words do a wonderful job of coloring it.
