I have not written a haibun in some time and this one leans more toward the side of senryu.. but I do hope you enjoy!
Escape Unfurling promise Whispering in dawn's shadow Yearning to escape Youth. So impatient. Always seeking the unknown. Demanding the impossible. Unwilling to settle. Daring to dream. Daring to live. Daring to believe. Simply... daring. Time, the ever restless and fickle teacher, tempers the race, the chase, the flight... the inevitable escape. Wisdom, the consummate observer, the elusive truth, offers its ageless gift. Honesty of spirit and surety of heart stake their claim... and purity of soul clings to every moment, every breath of the child that was. And we, the self-professed protectors, can but lament this rite of passage, watching quietly. It is what must be... but it is so difficult to let them go... Innocence fading Memories lay in silence Youth has slipped away © mdbadgerow 2010
