I have begun work on a collection of short verse. How it began is not as important to me as that it did come about. Most of the work is done in forty words or less. I have contemplated doing another book featuring these short 'snippets' if you will. There may be some longer pieces included but nothing over 60-70 words. I will include a couple on each page that I submit. What I would like feedback on is if you think this kind of collection has a place in this world of poetry we all love. It does have a tentative title already but I'll hold on to it for awhile. Anyway here are the first two I'm sharing with you.. please any feedback is appreciated. I have heard from so many who say they just don't have time to read long poetry so they've never really gotten 'into' it. These are simply written and one can either contemplate and really think about them or simply enjoy them for the small snippets they are. At least I am hoping so.. okay I've been long-winded enough here...LOL
Bare Canvas
spring stretches its limbs skyward
and trails its fingertips, like an artist
stroking canvas with brush, across
barren fields, sullen skies, bare trees
and we, a captive audience, hold our
collective breaths, await the unveiling...
eager for the master's handiwork

Vapors
there is in life a realization that
comes, a breath lingering long after we
exhale, a thought drifting within
the vapors of time, an infinitesimal
moment when we know we have lived well
... more's the pity if it does not.
The songs and art in this book are about our collective emergence after the pandemic and trauma of the last few years - comprised of 5 collections: World as Refuge, Where We Live, In Our Hands, Rhythms of Change and What We See & Sow.
Cheers,
