Sharing a series I've written over the years since I begain writing.. and yes I still think of myself as an apprentice in the craft...hope you enjoy!
The Apprentice Series

The Apprentice
I seek not fame
nor its glossy portrait
of faux reflections.
I crave not adoration
nor its lip-synced psalms
of expected praise.
I await not the glory
nor its echoed applause
of adoring minions
for I am but an apprentice,
an amateur wordsmith,
who seeks to mold mere words
into poetic landscapes, paint
thoughts and ordinary musings
until given significance
by another's heart.
I do not seek more than this
for the words I write
as I claim not the title of poet...
I have yet to believe I fit the mold.

An Apprentice Still
A poet I still claim not to be-
Writer? Perhaps,of mediocrity.
I seek not fame or accolades
For the words I write in rhyme and phrase-
To study those of mastered skill
And pen my thought with borrowed quill.
This is all I want for me-
To walk with prose on ink-filled days
Content to be an apprentice still.

Yes, I Am
Years have passed
since I picked up my pen
of curiosity and simplicity.
The words I write have
changed as have I...
they are more reflective,
more introspective,
and perhaps even
more colorful, more
conscious of the reader,
the heart and soul found
within the words.
But I, the self-professed apprentice,
the self-titled 'non-poet' have not,
as I am still exploring, still evolving,
still practicing the craft of writing,
the art of poetry.
May I never forget the words
I've written... may I continue
to look forward to those
I have yet to write, embrace
the lessons they teach me,
and may I always be willing
to give them away,
placing them in the heart
of others, and know they
have found a safe haven.
Yes, I am still an apprentice
that writer still finding her place,
that non-poet still passionate
about words...
and I am still very
content to be just that.
I think we are all apprentices of not only writing and poetry but of life. I don't think any of us ever think of ourselves as finished learning for writing and especially poetry is an ongoing learning curve from the time we rhyme two lines until we say goodbye to this world and hope that some of our words survive...I think yours will be around a long time.

I have always believed that if you are happy in your own skin you do not have to worry about labels. You are the writer of poetry, I am a poet who loves to write. Poetry, short stories, fiction, non-fiction, these are all boxes try to fit in, yet, we are all the same.
The thing about your poetry is that you awake the senses so that we breathe the same air, see the same sky, smell the same rose. That's the difference.

Ah, you are good, even better than good, Myrna, and I think deep down you know that you are. Still, there is a sense of humility in the great ones that, as Marcia said, heightens the prose and poetry of those who are truly gifted, but have their own reservations concerning their worth. I applaud this sense of seeking.
