Short verse but very introspective...I think anyway..))
I Give You
My love for simplicity
in the written word
may be sometimes overstated
but it will not ever change.
It will remain the light
that guides me, the rhythm
marking each line, and the
voice heard within
my open heart and thirsty soul.
I will give you not
dictionary infused prose.
Nor will I give you archaic words
to make your mouth water.
I give you simply myself...
in all of my transparency.
Ah, Myrna, we all search for the words which will free ourselves and hopefully communicate to another soul in its travels. Poems can be a soothing balm to ease our human difficulties. They can also be a trigger to set our thoughts to deciphering what lies within the lines. I agree that if I have to spend too much time attempting to "understand" those lines I always wander off to more "simplified" words to read.
