She does not care much
For Adventure's call, is not drawn
To escape or being Danger's pawn,
But may flirt with Temptation's edge.
Thoughts of soaring skies sometimes dance
Through her mind, mountains to scale
Tease the spirit and oceans to sail
Tug the imagination of endless summer.
But she was born to simpler fare,
No expectations of greatness or daring,
More laid back, somewhat uncaring
Of the thrills that others highly praise.
Tethers of blindness she could claim
If she wanted to make such pleas
But she does not bother with theories
Of why... they matter little to her.
For life is kind and gives her much
To embrace though she skirts the edge
Of grief a time or two. She can dance
In the rain, hear drumbeats of summer,
Captain puddle boats, her fare
Paid with laughter and tears. She can praise
Azure skies and magnolia breezes, and claim
Each as gifts that 'simply' define her.

I believe that those gifts that "simply" define her is her inner beauty and steadfast core of beliefs which puts a smile on her face or a tear in her eye. In other words, the "simply" which is her is a contagious and wonder to behold . . . simply.
