A Tear On Lash
Sun has slipped away
Quietly shedding azure
Now bleeding crimson
I breathe deeply and wrap myself in this moment. How many times have I been here? How many journeys have taken into the night? How long has it been since I began counting stars, searching for that 'one', that glittering reminder of another time and place? That time before I found 'the empty shoes walking nowhere', before the 'silence of lonely' sat beside me in shared sorrow, before 'good-bye became more than just a word'. I sigh and begin counting again, searching once more. There! Could it be? But, no, it is but a tear on lash, a memory that weeps, a gift of an unspoken promise left behind. How many times have I been here? How many more journeys will I take? Only the silence and the stars know... and they are holding fast to their secrets.
