A haibun that I hope you will enjoy...

Caretaker

Among scattered stars
Lies the whisper of silence
Gathering my thoughts

Life... ah, the journey!  I have walked those trails edged in the darkness of sorrow and the gray shroud of insecurity.  Standing motionless beneath a cerulean sky, I have known the joy of continuing, of constancy.  I have embarked upon paths of the unknown. The highways of 'best left forgotten'.  Yes, I have wandered near and far. To not do so would mean not living. I've realized that we are not promised an easy journey... just a journey.  It is up to us to journey well, whether we stumble and fall or we fly.

Dawn's awakening
Painting golden sentences
Singing morning's song

I have sung the hymns of loss.  Voiced the ballads of love.  And then the pen of words was placed into my hands.  A gift from above.  I understood the trust that came with the pen.  The faith that words were granting me.  The power I could wield and the humility of the ink that was spilled before me.

Day shares company
Moments breathing quietly
Leaving words behind

And I have recited the poetry of hope.  The prose of continuing.  I allowed the ink of sonnets to drip freely.  I watched colors fade into simplicity.  And imagined this simplicity bloom into brilliance.  And I waited.... and I learned.

Sunset brushing by
Leaving its leftover thoughts
Within sky's promise

And now... I glance toward Heaven and whisper my gratitude.  Words have granted me another day to share.  Thoughts have bled. Ink has spilled.  I will forever strive to earn their trust and keep their friendship.  I am their caretaker and I will try not to ever let them down.

And you are one of the finest caretakers of words around. So many here waste them on trivia. Your poetry never ceases to amaze me.

Hi Myrna,

I like the Haibun, it gives the opportunity to present the best of prose and poetry so that they complement each other.

This is an excellent example of the genre.

Best Regards,

Mor.

You take the haibun and allow it to become stunningly wonderful. I dipped my pen into the style a few times, and I thought I did pretty good, and I guess I did. Pretty good. But reading these you have graced us with tells me that the haibun which you create is perfect in every way, at lest as far as I can tell. The haibun becomes you.
