While camping in my office cube,
My throat became so dry,
It felt like barren desert sands
Beneath a sunny sky.

I knew a source of quick relief
Not far from where I sat:
A snack machine with soda pop,
Fruit juice, and this and that.

My eager eye perused the shelves
Of sugar-laden treats
In search of something cold and wet
Among the many sweets.

I saw a can of lemon-lime,
Put in a dollar bill,
Anticipating very soon
That I would drink my fill.

I waited by the snack machine,
Now feeling very strange;
The wicked beast retained my drink
And would not give me change!

I pushed the button once again,
Frustration showing through;
I pulled the lever for my cash
And threatened twice to sue!

But nothing that I did or said
Succeeded in my quest
To buy a spot of beverage
And give my throat a rest.

I turned to find another source
Of tasty drink to slurp,
And as I did, imagine this:
I swear I heard a burp!
