Words wrote and spoke
Tremulous in import,
Each wanting the exact phrase
To rise above the menial.
Poet's food a pale paste
Lacking proper nutrient,
Creating only the hunger
For a richer fare.
All try some hypocrisy
Of human feeling,
Trying to distill
An honest jell.
Greatness denies Us all
Pushing so very hard,
Wanting only one caption
Matching the Masters.

Well, Mr. Lux,
I can see you are a successful writer. I'm not. BUT I am an excellent reader.
I am giving your poem a 10 because it is executed well. I disagree with the sentiments, however.
For me, poetry is a heart song. It has a cadence or beat - it expresses an infinate thought or freezes a second in time - briefly, succinctly and with beauty.
I'm hoping that I will find your heart exposed in some of yours - I'm going to look!! :-)

This is a black hole when it comes to poetry in that it is packed densely with metaphor. So much meaning condensed in these lines. It describes precisely what we all search for in writing. Superb!!
