Poem Artwork
There were times,
some evenings,
when she appeared on
the balcony of her condo
across the road, and
always, as
an overture of
her returning, the
mellifluent strains of
‘Clair de Lune’ would filter down
and soften the townships clang and clatter…
.
ever… upon hearing, I would defer
my duties to an assistant, so I might
take in her beauty with the crisp night air…
.
This vision was mine…
a brief time for
my fraught mind
to savor the feelings
I knew could never last…
A cleansing moment that essentially
stilled the beast in me, and left me basking
in the light of imaginations wonder…
.
Oft,
when she
saw me, she
would motion at
me to join with her
on a palette of pearls
that lay ‘neath her feet,
and when I opened
my heart,
it would cleanse
my thoughts from the
fetor of nagging patrons…
.
bathed in candlelight,
she etched her
passions in pure
abandon, as a wash
of movement merged into
fluidly unrestrained expression,
(floating and twirling and flowing)
as lissome brushstrokes revealed
a soul of unrequited passions,
.
and I would move with her,
my heart in flight, my spirit freed,
in sweet delight, alone together
without fear, she seemed
so far, yet oh so near…
.
Seeing me gawking at times,
she would float nearer the railings,
in her vapory peignoir,
her body soft in candle glow,
waving and blowing me kisses,
which I always caught in my soul
for inspiration, when life darkened,
and my heart became too heavy to bear…
.
Wide-eyed and breathless,
I would always wave back, and
then return to the bustle and clamor
of my eatery across the street,
where I would dream of her,
so easily, my restless
thoughts and heart
set free, content
to wonder
without fear,
she seemed so far,
yet oh so near…

Our imaginative dreams create poetry in a very similar way. Your way of describing them, however, is far more lucid. I viewed her and knew her exactly the way you wanted me to.

Incredibly descriptive & gorgeous Richard, so delicately painted of inner feelings. Loved the free flowing liberty in it!

Much can be said for "In the Light of Imaginations Wonder..." for as you've laid bare the vibrancy of a Nomad's creations (for I saw this as much of a wanderer's creation as a contemporary imagining of today) where what may not be accessible in real-time, can be pictured in the mind and heart. Many a line was constructed with imaginative as well as a mix of actual images. I especially was drawn to: Oft,
when she
saw me, she
would motion at
me to join with her
on a palette of pearls
that lay ‘neath her feet,
and when I opened

A very passionately expressed piece of one's heart. Thank you for posting.
