This is the story of Jonathan Rear

Who found life frustrating for he could not hear

His wife admonished him to see Dr. Deer

But, he answered, “Yes Dear, I’ll have a beer

His friends would heckle John and jeer

So one day he went to Dr. Seymour Deer

He cried, Doctor, doctor, doctor deer

Can you help me for I cannot hear?

The doctor shined a light into Jonathan’s ear

He found the reason he could not hear

“I have found your problem,” exclaimed Dr. Deer

You have a bean lodged in your ear

But, I can help, so have no fear

This will be much easier than it may appear

After Dr. Deer removed the bean from Jonathans ear

Jonathan rejoiced for now he could hear

His wife prodded him to do chores he had put off for a year

Little Johnny hit Sister Susie in the rear

For she had broken a toy that he held dear

Jonathans boss informed him, he should find a new career

Jonathan soon realized there are things he didn’t want to hear

So, one day he rushed in anxiously to see Dr. Deer

Crying, “Doctor, doctor, doctor, I shed a tear

I do not understand this so I fear

I do like everything I hear

It is the silence which I hold dear

Taking the bean out of my ear

Was a huge mistake or this I fear

Doctor, doctor, doctor Deer

Please put the bean back in my ear
