I went to the grocery store today to pick some odds and ends

When I pulled into the parking lot I ran into some old friends

Just some guys I knew when in high school

One of yelled out, Hey, Duf, you ole fool

I gave him a stare as if I were offended

He said, Hey ole buddy, no insult intended

Tell us a joke and make us laugh if you still can

So I told my favorite joke and laugh they did

They roared in laughter and said, “We love it when you kid

We found our way to the coffee shop

We spent the morning remembering old times over coffee & donuts

About those nights at the football games and teachers who used to bust our butts

Somehow we remembered the good times and not the bad

We talked about the happy times and not so much the sad

That is why when I got home from the store

I realized I had to go out once more

Because after the morning of fond recollection

I forgot to pick those weekly rations
