Gossip is the word to describe idle talk about someone’s private associations

This talk may start completely true but gets passed on with variations

If John tells Jane that Jill kissed Harry and Jane passes it on there is room for exaggerations

For instance John tells Jane who tells Mary and Mary passes it on to Heather

By the time the statement gets back to Jill it something like “Jill and Harry were caught in bed together

A person finds himself a target of gossip columns especially if he’s a celebrity

Gossip is an ever evolving thing for it starts with one point of view

But as it is passed on the story as told by John may be a different one told to you

Some people see gossip as a light-hearted way of spreading information

In truth it is a vehicle that is plagued with many falsehoods and misreprentation

They see it as a story told changing each time it is told while breeding inaccuracies and fabrication

Before one believes these growing stories he must be wary of false inventions

When John told Jane that Jill kissed Harry this amplification was not his intention

Oh, by the way he didn’t say Jill kissed Harry

It was Harry who kissed Mary

Or did Mary kiss….
