The United State has one of the fastest growing populations of developing countries, fueled by illegal immigration. Can our infrastructure and environment take the growth? Is the dream becoming a nightmare?
Well done. . .but like a lot of people, I feel torn. America
has always prided herself on welcoming the poor. . ."the huddled masses," and to me, it is one of her finest qualities. On the other
hand, there is tremendous competition for jobs and resources are
increasingly stressed. I want amnesty for as many good, honest, hard-working non-citizens as we can realistically and fairly manage to
grant it to, but I feel it is important that people who work in this
country share the burden of paying for essential services such as
police and fire protection and emergency medical care. Farm laborers
(for instance) make very little money and many have large families
to support, but they should still have to pay income tax, however
little it might be. SUCH a complex issue. SO many people to consider. Of course, if government officials paid t h e i r fair share of tax and did not pocket so much of o u r money, we would
have a great deal more to go around. Perhaps then could reach a
humane and intelligent and A m e r i c a n solution. Thank you

A nightmare indeed, Ron. Illegal is the key word here and when governments actually teach their people how to sneak into America, it is time for us to wake up and smell the coffee. We are all from immigrant stock, this is true, but most of our families came here through legal channels and were willing to take whatever work was available to them in order to become part of the American dream. The argument of "the illegals do work that no other people wish to do" is garbage. Suit up the prisoners, reinstate the chain gangs and let them take these jobs. It costs us about $30+ grand a year to take care of a prisoner and they exist in a lifestyle that exceeds what many working Americans can afford. Our prisons have cable TV with sports and movie channels, internet, gyms, three hot meals a day a roof over their heads and a salary for the work they do...and these are murderers and rapists among the rest. Get their sorry behinds out there to do the work and seal off the borders for the sake of security, survival, ecology and prosperity. Exactly what part of "illegal aliens" do our leaders not understand???? Harbor or abet any other person who breaks the law and we will go to jail, why should those who harbor and abet the illegals be any different? Sorry for the rant, Ron. You did an excellent job on this poem and said what truly needs to be said.

Ron you make a sound arguement,and we can only wonder what is to come.This whole world is in such a state of flux it seems headed for some kind of clash! If not the end, then some kind of chaos! Either way a chilling prospect!Well done!

YES! From this I found my biggest complaint in this issue... where's the outcry against the wealthy who facilitate this horrendous influx of aliens? I also noticed the "turban" reference. How long does it take for terrorists to realize how easy it is to slip into America, basically unnoticed?
Every cuplet in your piece had a physical and emotional effect as I read, Ron. This entire topic confuses me, but in the atmosphere of insecurity we now have, being distracted by the admin., once again, the attention is shifted from the real problem: Stop the Corp's and businesses from bringing them in!
