Woke up this morning and found that time had left me behind…again.

Time Went

Time went and did it again,
ran out on me like,
I don't know when.

Like I don't know when,
I'll have that time again.

Time is a river,
that flows by my door,
my time lapse camera,
is keeping its score.

I see time fly by,
when I speed up the scenes,
until it becomes a blur,
like some of my dreams.

In the fullness of time,
bursting at the seams,
memories like time travel,
ride on moonbeams.

So time went and wasted,
most of my youth.
Time is a thief,
if you want to know the truth.

While time rolls on,
like an old wagon wheel,
dishing out roulette promises,
as part of its deal.

Have just enough time,
to finish this piece.
Without just enough time,
I'd have no peace.

For time waits for no one,
and certainly not for me.

That time I lost yesterday?
It's up, went, and gone.
so I'll have to start over,
come the dawn.

It's up, went, and start over,
come the dawn.

Ethereal. Well done, Ronald, (Why do I want to call you Ron?) Moment by moment building to the climax of starting over "alone again, naturally." This time-travel verse takes me to my own field of friendly dreams. I have often outfought my prejudices about such things. Entropy prevails however at the end. Thought provoking!

Loved it!

There's normally such a sense of desperation about time passing but this poem has more of a laissez-faire that, whilst recognising that what's gone can't necessarily be retrieved, has the hopefulness that you can make the most of what's left and 'start over'. I find that encouraging. Thanks, Ron. xx

I am very impressed by your form and flow and how you managed to spur some cognitive thought process here! An old Latin teacher said that there is no tomorrow, because by the time it gets here, tomorrow is today. I have long wondered if time really exists, or if it's mass delusion. "...the future is a mirror, reflecting back into the past; it tells you every coming day will be just like the last; if you think that you have seen the worst of it; there's not much more than you can do, ol' Dorian Gray's got nothing over you"!

It's up, went, and start over,
come the dawn.

It certainly is, except for this damned arctic winter we're having; right now, time seems frozen to me.

Time is subjective, getting up and running ahead when it should slow down and let you catch up. Not like yesterday when the fickle bitch lagged behind you and would not keep the pace. Like nature I guess we've got to bear it. Clever poem to keep me thinking of all the ways that time can betray me Ron. Bob

A fine representation of time to which I can relate. Sometimes, I close my eyes and it is as though I can feel time like a breeze flow past my face. Thank you for sharing, Ron. Love and peace to you,

Regis

A beautiful poem Ron. Your imagery is superb and your rhyme doesn't jar as it well might have in a poem with such a theme. We are what we do. And you have done beautifully. God bless you.

As the lift I pasted suggests, finding a way to cope with time (in your case I'm assuming a large extent it's to write)is paramount in keeping one's sense of equilibrium. Your poem has a paradoxical lilt that allows both regret for time passing, and an encouragement to look forward to the next moment. Well done.

Have just enough time,
to finish this piece.
Without just enough time,
I'd have no peace.

From the moment we are born, we begin to die, second by second - tick...tock...tick...tock. Many times I have looked at a clock and thought to myself, "You'd better get busy; time's slowly passing you by, and you still have several things in that bucket list you need to take care of." Then, little by little, the thought gets shoved to the back of my mind, and I go on about my business. If a person thought about it constantly, it would, more than likely, drive them mad. Nice write again, Ron. You seem to have an inexhaustible supply of poetry stored in that head of your. Keep up the good work.
