From my latest novel, Starting Over: The Village of Los Angeles. Drake Hutchins hasn't heard from his grandfather in the California Central Valley and is desperate after a hurricane in LA and flood in the Valley to reach him. But I hope you understand the subtle changes in the G6 satellite technology nine years from now and laugh at the irony.

A Call In 2032



One ringy, dinghy… Two ringy, dinghy…


AI: "The residence of Frank Hutchins. Who's calling?" (In a very pleasant seductive female voice emerging from the lips of an exquisitely beautiful female image on the large screen on the wall, smart pads, watch phones and eye projectors in the room watching and listening. Holograms of her are the rage on YouTube.)


Drake: "This is Drake, your grandson, are you there?"


AI: "I'm sorry, but Ralph is indisposed at the moment. Do you care to give a video message I can convey to him? Text him? Have sext with me?"


Drake: (sarcastically) "No, I just got out of the shower and don't have my makeup on."


AI: "Okay, I sympathize with you. I don't think I want to see you that way either. Just leave a voice message and I will get it to Frank ASAP. Okay?"


Drake: (irritated) "Just tell him to call back, or don't you already know that?"


AI: "Now, now. Calm down. I will make sure he calls back soon, Sweetie. Bye-bye."

Too much technology is weird.
Of that fact I am really feared.
Your poem shows one way it could
drive my thinking more than it should.
But I did enjoy reading it.

Ha! You are bang on as far as I am concerned but that being expressed, I do not worry about it. Actually, I love the girl/woman who speaks to me every time I engage/disengage my alarm system. Be well, Ron.

LOL!!!! I don't think we need to wait until 2032 to have this kind of answering service. It may be sooner than you think. It's just another annoyance and inconvenience. Instead of you directly leaving your message on the machine to ask Ralph to call back, you have to speak to his answering machine robot first.
