Lucky Underpants

inspired by a gift from a friend

I had a pair when I was eight

The ones for Wednesday

Purple, I think

With a wild daisy on the front

Their luck ran out

I should have known

Why life just wasn't being kind

Seems I was being hit from all sides

With so much more than I could take

My eyes, I could not keep dry

So, when a friend, one day

Kindly reminded me

Of the indisputable value

Of a trusty pair of lucky underpants

I was shocked by the reality

Of what my problem had been

So, onto E-Bay I logged on

My new lucky underpants

Will soon be on their way

I've heard of lucky medals for safety, lucky shoes for runners, etc. but this is the first for lucky underpants. If it works, well...what can I say.
