Lazy Christian's Prayer
I need Your special guidance,
Your leading, Oh, my God.
Teach me how to be faithful,
but please don't use Your rod!
Just keep on being patient --
Your mercy should abound.
Maybe in ten years or so
I'll reach that higher ground!
If I don't have time for You
and have to skip "devotions,"
remember I still love You --
please don't stir my emotions.
Someday I hope to straighten out,
to put You in first place,
but just now I'm so busy;
Life is such a race!
Aren't these all just senseless ploys
to hide my despicable sin?
Would I need to make excuses
if I truly loved Him?
"I know thy works, and thy labor....
for My Name's sake (thou) hast labored,
and hast not fainted.
Nevertheless, I have somewhat against thee,
because thou hast left thy first love.
Remember...from where thou art fallen
and repent....." ( Revelation 2:2-5 KJV)

This is a work of excellence. Like yourself, it is also my heart to keep myself in line with His Word and Will. But in all of us, the flesh and spirit are always in combat..
With diligence, practice becomes habit, habit becomes lifestyle, and it does get easier. But the greatest magnet for obedience, is His Love! To KNOW someOne, you must know ABOUT them: READ THE WORD DAILY! FAITHFULLY!
It is also wise to keep "short records" with the LORD: i.e. forgive immediately, genuinely - so that we may BE forgiven - and ASK for forgiveness immediately, too! As soon as you recognize it.. Then, the Holy Spirit doesn't have to withdraw..because we are LIVING in sin.
