Hope you all had a Happy Fourth of July! Ours went out with alot of Bang Bang! :)
Feeling very Blessed to live in America, during the fireworks, I thought of all our men and women in the armed forces, protecting us, so we can still celebrate life here...
I wrote "The Red, White, and Blue" while thinking of them...
The red, white, and blue
Pinwheels swim a summer mood
My whirling thoughts blur . . .
. . . Of picnic baskets
Settings . . . nether, old oak trees
Hush, yellow ribbons . . .
A soldier eats pain . . .
One more summer, mise en scene
Gingham-scattered banes . . .
. . . And what fireworks?
E’er, be from . . . aft time, dawn!
Represent yore nights . . .
The Fourth of July!
Mom’s apple pie, zeal . . . and life . . .
Pray Old Glory flies!
Cause, love, a country
Sing, "The Star-Spangled Banner" A soldier still tries . . .
A Happy Birthday!
A Happy Birthday to you!
The red, white, and blue . . .
Pray. They come home soon!

I like the red and white and blue poem and the colors remind me of Tom's likes too. He loved red white and blue and was so patriotic. He would of loved to have me read this poem to him were he alive. Memories are always nice to have of loved ones though.
Indeed, Kimmy, a soldier's pain, a family's sacrifice - powerful reminder of why we are free to celebrate this day (and every day) any way we want - as the daughter/sister/niece/cousin of Veterans, as well as a Veteran, myself, thank you for remembering - well done.
