Christmas Morning...1949
Thank God for Jesus

Our jackass dragging
the tree.  Through the woods
we would go, singing Christmas
carols all the way and dreaming
of
Santa riding in his sleigh.

When we awake in the
morning.  Over to the window we
would look to see if by chance Santa
and the reindeer took a brake
 and went to sleep.
Mother heard
us scurrying about in our rooms.

"Santa's gone, she said, but I'll
tell you what he said.  He left
you what you ask him for because
you are good boys and girls.

He says as long as you live for
Jesus, and follow the golden rule
I'll return again next year."
Santa did'nt say that to Mother.  She
said that to us.

I never liked to see her hurt so
I'd live the ten commandments,
the golden rule and all the Words
God has for me to do.

Thank you God for your only
child and for my birthday the
next day too.
