This has never happened to me, so I can only imagine the terror abused women live with.
Another icepack. She prepares them so well Places it perfect— There’s the doorbell. She knows who it is And dreads the walk there. “Good evening officer. Thank you, I’m well.” The neighbors had called. They'd heard all her screams, And saw him rush out. A familiar scene. She’s glad he’s away. So tired of his fist Worn out on the game— The Abusive Kiss. Slowly, she creeps To the mirror to see Another black eye. The same as last week But also she glimpses The strength to go on Her ice pack now drops- All shame is long gone. A suitcase she’s kept Packed all along Cries out to her heart A sweet, silent song ‘Take me and go. This time make it sure.’ She listens now No will to endure His rages and rants. She moves to the door The doorbell rings The same as before. The policeman is there Thick tears in his eyes ‘I just couldn’t leave you. I hope you don’t mind. Please make a report. And please let us find A place of safekeep For you on this night.’ Tears pounded her face As she entered his car And the neighbors all sighed Thank God—she’s out.

Power packed, and a well written poem.
Heartfelt, oh, but something that needs to be

He is a coward to beat his wife and she was a fool for staying and giving him the opportunity again and again. I am glad that she left and I hope that she will have the strength to stay away because these situations escalate with each incident and it is a matter of time before he leaves her crippled or dieing and then finds another victim to prey upon. She would be wise not to expect the courts to take her side also, since prosecution for his type of crime often does not happen.

Such scenes make me sick. Abusive husbands should be well punished. I am usually against all types of violence, but such men should have their hands cut off. Victor
