I’m Building A Bridge

I’m building a bridge to heaven
Starting out on my knees in prayer
Using the tools my parents gave me
Combined with blessings from above

The first tool is truth and honesty
Respect for all who share the light
Setting an example for those who don’t
By taking active part in a righteous fight.

The second tool I’m using is decency
Caring compassionately for my fellowman
Helping the sick, aiding the poor
Offering hope whenever I can.

The third tool is a salute of honor
Respect for decency, courage and pride
Supporting those who defend our country
Remembering those who have died.

The fourth tool is the greatest one of all
That helps to mold the person I strive to be,
GOD, reaching out his hand to uplift me
To endow me with kindness and empathy.

The fifth tool is me, myself, and I
The caretaker of this temple God supplied
The one who must nurture my busy brain
With wisdom, purpose, achievement and pride.

Yes, I’m building a bridge to heaven
Only God knows when it’ll be complete
When I’m finished and God calls to me
I know my bridge will be my greatest feat.
