Christmas in Kentucky…
A crackling fire casting a warm glow
the aroma of turkey roasting slow
frost clinging to the pane of the window
it’s Christmas in the mountains of Kentucky…
Carolers harmonize beneath the starry sky
a spark of magic twinkles in the children’s eye
eagerly awaiting Santa and his reindeer that fly
it’s Christmas in the mountains of Kentucky…
Fresh bread, hand pulled candy, each a treat
sage dressing, green beans, and fresh corn so sweet
a table spread and fit for a king for our family to eat
it’s Christmas in the mountains of Kentucky…
Inside presents and packages for one and all
for the animals…a bed of fresh hay is spread in their stall
while in the distance a coyote yips a lonesome call
it’s Christmas in the mountains of Kentucky…
Around the tree the story of Jesus’ birth is told
a tradition that never gets old
a prayer is offered while each other’s hands we hold
it’s Christmas in the mountains of Kentucky…
Come visit us for the holidays for we have a lot to give
from this simple country life we live
in the mountains of Kentucky.
