Gathering all the guests for La Belle's Halloween Ball......

Poem Artwork

                                  Spellbound.........

Seems this is turning out to be,
a very Happy Halloween after all.
Now there are two great events to see,
Thornwood Manor tour and
La Belle's Halloween Ball.

This ancient tour begins in the basement,
of a very old, clandestine, spooky manor.
Listening for rattling chains and moans,
walking through smoke, fog, hearing
the clamor.

It is eerily mysterious, the parlor we enter,
to catch a glimpse of old Spinster Maddy.
She has been there how long entertaining guests?
Time to move along before we are trapped by her laddie.

Next, the tour takes us into the kitchen area,
where you have a false sense of peace, instead find dread.
Foul food and poisonous drink flying
everywhere,
you had better duck quickly or it will be off with your head.

Making your way through the bedroom, please move along,
do not stop until you climb the stairs into
the attic.
A damp, musty smell surrounds thousands
of bats,
if you wake them from their sleep they will certainly panic.

Run down those stairs, get out and do not look back,
whatever it takes leave that place one
and all.
As you begin to calm down, catch
your breath,
begin making your way over to La Belle's
Halloween Ball.

Mistress of the Night will be there to greet,
each and every one who dares enter the ball.
I warn you when you enter keep your eyes
wide open,
for you will become spellbound one and all.

The list of guests is growing longer by
the minute,
with the brothers Ed, Edvard The Eldest a vampire bat.
Jersey Devil Ed a flying reptilian and little Pee Wee Ed a werewolf.
Dark Master coming out after dark from a catacomb slithering on a mat.

An Evil Clown wearing a sinister, expressionless smile,
mesmerized by the charms of the Evil Enchantress you see.
In a pentagram sits an old cackling woman casting spells,
another searches for fresh meat, her name
Caterina de Albuquerque.

As the eerie music plays and all partake of their fill,
moon riding high, smoke and fog filling
the room.
Ghosts and goblins in full swing checking us
all out,
at La Belle's Ball filled with much doom
and gloom.

Stay close my friends, do not wander off,
for what the evil spirits do not get, the
ghouls will.
Dance the night away if you dare,
drink, be merry, watch out for bats on the windowsill.

Wear scarves and bring canes laden
with silver,
protect your neck, watch out for any bites.
First sign of daylight, at the crack of dawn,
you will find yourself choking, gagging with
abundant frights.

Happy Halloween!

Karen, thank you for this frightfull tour. Reminds me of Halloween in Salem, NH - everyone dresses the part and seems to love the holiday. Excellent descriptions in this piece. I'm also impressed with the rhyme scheme...must have been difficult with all the names. -Sheila

Karen you did have me spellbound, your humor is so wonderful but it was a bit scary too. Now why did you have to go and warn them all to wear scarves? Thank you for the tour and welcome to the ball Darlink!!

Karen,
this is too funny [sorry, not frightful]. Sounds like the final chapter in these two tales.

Yep, I, Catarina do love fresh meat. None of that store bought stuff. lol

Just the tour alone would be a sight to see, and the party itself will likely be filled with glee. Ghosts and goblins at the door, waiting to greet guests with much folklore.

A cute, funny, and interesting Halloween story.
