A writer probably needs to have fun, or be silly from time to time. The best toys are the words of the English language. Since I am a golden oldies rock fan, maybe I can get my musician son to write music for The Ruthie Wrap-around so we can all dance it together at the first AD convention.
Russet-haired Ruthie
wore a wrap-around
that showed she
really was quite round,
rotund and robust,
if not unusually rapturous
in all the most regarded regions
of relative physical rotation.
But, Ruthie rated highly
with all the boys in town,
who remembered most repeatedly
the day her wrap-around
came unwound,
twas unsound,
that wrap-around
when Ruthie
respirated roundly.
I remember Ruthie
most routinely
when I'm messin' around,
with words naturally.
Oh, how cute! Lots of round "R" sounds make this poem humorous and yet sonorous. Oh sure, I'm glad I wasn't there when Ruthie's Wrap-around came undone. Are we having an AD convention? Great idea, if it was on a small scale. If your son writes the music, I will do the dance!

Funny, I recently sent a message to the AD staff suggesting they consider a biennial (not biannual) convention ~ I like the light-hearted wit and creativity behind this piece.
