She got lost in the forest of  delights
as morning sun warms  shining bright
 she's tired of trying to find the tree
all of them look like they have gold leaves
she climbed so many she aches all over
decides to take a rest in the clover

Wondering, why did she ever start this
the legend calls it the way to find bliss
shes being told  she can't take a break
only have so many hours to make it
sorry but she's been out here all day
looking for a leaf  made of gold, they say

She was all excited, pumped,at the start
now feeling kind of brokenhearted
thought sure she'd find the leaf by now
just have to touch it and the  person
she loves will return her love  forever
sounds crazy, but worth the endeavor

She sees a gorgeous blue bird with red breast
whistling so beautifully she's entranced
it seems stange the leaf next to him looks gold
suddenly  the suns rays make it glisten
she starts climbing the tree like a monkey
not caring that she's bloody and sore 

Losing traction,  so tired her arms like lead
have to keep going, she sees it is the gold leaf
shining on a branch right next to the sweet bird
she prays for  strength being in arms reach
please help, one last heave and she's there
stretching she touches the leaf, its hard like a coin

Before she takes her hand away  gets bit by a  snake
it didn't hurt just a sting, so shocked she  screams
decending the tree so quickly out of breath
she falls on the ground gasping for air, fighting fear
she sees only a slim green garden snake, shes relieved
euphoric that  she touched the leaf, she dies smiling
