Veterans know what war is
they don't need us to tell them
what they do need is for us to
listen to them to show our love
that we care enough to share
our time and resources with them
I salute all veterans,and pray

A wonderful tribute Eileen. Thank you for your talent. My late husband is buried in the Veterans Cemetery in Hawaii. He volunteered for two wars and was injured twice. He spent every day after his medical discharge until he passed in pain. Once I asked him why he signed up the second time and he told me, "I did it because it was my duty and the right thing to do." He was a true hero.

Thanks also to all those who refuse to go out an fight for ANY government. Their courage and their high principles are also valued. I recall tales of the vitriol heaped on conscientious objectors in WW1 and WW2. They were brave men and women.
So much care in this poem... so many of us feel that these men and women are heroes, and words cannot ever say enough... however; you did a wonderful job of it... lindalaw
Gratitude is the first sign of love, and you sure showed yours, I showed mine in a prayer to those that had tried to protect me, and as you said all of them, that's is the first beginning of a new world.

Hi Eileen - all war and all veterans, war is hell - Sinead O'conner's song Famine, about the so called Famine in Ireland said 'if there ever is going to be healing, there has to be remembering and then grieving; so there then can be forgiving, there has to be knowledge and understanding' - this may seem slightly at a tangent - it's complicated subject matter for me and i'm trying to say i appreciate your poem's voice today, Veterans Day. :)
