I'm trying hard
Not to give in
To my anger
Or my despair.
I've long felt
Like a useless
Appendage
In my family,
Someone only grudgingly
Accepted, and barely
Loved;
Now, through his actions,
My father has validated
Every one
Of the doubts
And fears
That I have struggled with
Since earliest childhood.
I am to be, in effect,
Disinherited.
Everything is to go
To two of my brothers.
I'm told that I
Can remain in this house,
It is yours, they tell me,
Yet they will not make it
Official by law.
What happens
If I outlive them?
Will their spouses
Honor their promise?
How I wish
I could afford
To live on my own
Far away from this place
Where I don't belong
Because I'm not really
Wanted.

It is a nagging feeling. I certainly hope that you can get beyond this, because it is disheartening, and get free on your own without having to worry about inheriting anything. My father was very smart (?) And spent all his money like water down the drain. Left my mother in the poor house and gave us kids nothing.

“Being a couple yet free is our next challenge on the evolutionary ladder. This book successfully helps us unravel the myths that block that achievement. It does it with warmth, with readability, and with balance. It recreates everyday problems and
