Vulgar books are burned.

Acrid smoke rises where words lay burning,

Freed of their pages from which they were ripped

By the Boards of Education, their stomachs still churning

For not having done this earlier.  They are not gripped

By any fear of retribution for doing this molestation

Of libraries and bookstores across the country.

They were moved to action by others and that sensation

Carried them this far to purge everything and free

This nation of everything vulgar or dirty ever written;

Bound themselves by some credo so future families

Will not be embarrassed to pick up a book and not be smitten

With profanity, lies, trash or read of others’ frailties.

The smoke has cleared now and all that’s left is ashes

Of Shakespeare, Plath, Hemingway, and so many others.

I shudder with fear if they invade my home, throw back sashes

And find all the words I have stored for myself, my sisters and brothers.

A tear rolls down my cheek as I turn and walk away.

I believe there are those who will never understand the passions in life...understanding only what they see, but for the readers into life, the ones that feel deeper, these books will lie with us forever...withus, our children, our childrens children, and by that time, hopefully another Passion will return...
Excellent George!
Love and Peace~

Funny how freedom of speech, including the written word, has little
"only if's" The biggest being...your free only if I get elected. It will be a sad day indeed.

This is well-written, George, a premonition perhaps? I hope not. The loss would be staggering -- it seems to me the first to be burned should be pornography of all kinds ...

This is a historic warning, for it seems that the HOLY TRIBUNAL OF INQUISITION is in full function, (INVISIBLY FOR A WHILE.) ~ but as more SLAVEYARD are built ~ they, THE OFFICERS OF THE INQUISITION will start burning books and houses... THE BOOKS THAT DON'T "AYE" THEM, and the HOUSES of those that don't AGREE with THEM... (Those of the Tribunal of the INQUISITION).

It is up to the true Americans to decide to get our country back to its CONSTITUTIONALITY, or let the SUPPORTERS OF THE MORONITE ACADEMY and its "blind members" enjoy their company.

In admiration and gratitude,

I agree. It surely would be sad day indeed. That is why we should know our words and the important works of others so we can keep them next to us always. For in our hearts and minds no one can lay claim to them here on this earth.

always,
randy
