(The Hunt For The Ceffyl Dwr In The Sea Of Evanthe)
Pt. 1: A Call To Arms
As all days must go to the west setting sun
With prayers of thanksgiving as the last light is done
No significant battles had been fought, lost or won
The Priestess resides in disguise
Only the faery-folk know her by name
Aiden, (an ceann a heals) her fame
A Goddess na súile glas inherent proclaim
Well known for her cheese custard pies
With benison finished, retiring to bed
She lay on the pillow that cradled her head
Almost asleep, nearly missing wot said
From the tiny wee voice in her ear
The flickering warmth from diminutive light
Cast glow on the Fae who was hovering in flight
Gesturing wildly with all of his might
For the notice that the Priestess could hear
With urgent command, Aiden called out the phrase
The Majickal words from the oldest of days
Transforming herself to the faery-folk ways
So to heed the decree of the Queen
Out to the back, flew the Priestess and knave
Called to take arms and a city to save
What catastrophe’s fallen to be called to the cave?
Are queries as yet to be seen
On past the gateway of circle and stone
Down thru the Passage of Time, to the throne
Where Clidna, the daughter of Fand, rules alone
One of the last Tuatha De` Dannan
She stood where the waters of Evanthe flow
After welcomes, the Queen bid the Priestess to go
The Dyrnwyn to find for the task ahead, so
To the realm of the old King, Mannanan
Clidna had offered a cup of sweet wine
Made with herbs of the field and the seas sacred brine
A touch of lights wisdom and majick entwine
Told the Priestess of Evanthe’s plight
A monster of old had escaped its restraint
A more hideous picture the Queen could not paint
The peril of all Faer Folk was urgent complaint
Only a daughter of Danu could fight
So she transfigured herself to Light beyond Space
Whisked thru the vortex of time to a place
Where the foundation of Gods created her race
To capture the white hilted sword
Manannan would not give it freely, she feared
The stealth of her presence would needs to be steered
How could she remain pure of heart if she veered
Off the path of the Logos reward?
well done
Wonderfully creative and ethereal. Great to read although I don't understand most of what is being so beautifully expressed.
