he blushed and stared intently
as a sly, crooked grin
played on his sensual lips
while he tried to imagine the delight
hiding under their thin covering

they were round and intriguing
their scent sweet and provocative
it drifted subtly on the air
causing body tremors of desire
flowing juices of awakened taste-buds

he imagined cradling one in each hand
the perfect balance of weight
his palms poured sweat at the thought
of lifting them slightly, then gently
inhaling their scent, tasting their flavor

any price would not be too great
to sample such an enticing delicacy
he tried to curb his appetite for them
but he was out of control, obsessed,
every week he was back...for more

she watched his eyes as he carried on
conversation, not looking at her face
she secretly smiled a knowing smirk
as she checked out each of his items
saving his favorites for last

his hands greedily reached out
to grasp the objects of his obsession....
oh well, nothing grocery customers wanted
ever surprised or shocked her anymore
she forgave his indiscretion...knowing

he had always been a melon man
