I share very little of my private life. Most of you know me only through my poetry or brief exchanges we've had in email. I have many I consider friends here that I cherish. Next week I am having cardiac surgery and all prayers and positive energy will be deeply appreciated.
The Unknown
By La Belle Rouge
they say no one knows where the soul goes
when anesthesia takes the senses away
the brain is still active in that slumber
too deep to feel the slice of a scalpel
or the invasion of the body’s secrets
some have near-death experiences
they witness unspeakable wonders
some wake and remember nothing
but..some will never wake at all
when I’m there in the unknown
will I set eyes on you again?
then we’ll stroll arm in arm
under fragrant magnolias
while I tell you in person
how much I missed you
I JUST HAPPENED TO VISIT YOUR DEN, SO...I READ THE LATEST POEM FIRST. THUS, I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT YOUR SURGERY, BUT NOW I KNOW THAT EVERYTHING WENT WELL. BUT WHAT IS SO OBVIOUS IS THAT YOU WERE SUBMITTED AND PREPARED FOR YOUR UNKNOWN, WHICH WAS ALWAYS KNOWN BY A GOOD AND GRACIOUS GOD. GOD BLESS AND MAY CONTINUED AND TOTAL HEALING BE YOURS. ... I've just nipped in to let you know I'm holding you in a big, warm blanket of Kate prayer and hugfulness as you mend, Darlin. I'm sure you were a model patient and faced your surgery with dignity, calm and absolute assurance that your future is assured... And enjoyed your walk with the Colonel, God bless him!! :)) I'll bet he took your arm and patted your hand reassuringly, talking of peace, love, rainbows and sunshine to walk into just a little way off. And then graciously returned you to us with a lingering kiss on your palm. Heaven can wait. For now, we wish you well, a pain-free recovery and much renewed health to your heart (physical!!) and bones and a swift return of your vigourous pen! We love you very much, dear friend. Come back to us just as soon as you can. K xx

That's why I use local anesthetic. Hopefully, the surgery will make you more energetic, but, based on your output, I don't see how you could do more writing than you do now.
Don't let the bed bugs bite, nor any of those little nasty bacteria they have out there in those ultraclean surgery areas.
Come back to us with your romance, wit, and charm. You are well loved by all including this crusty naysayer.

my prayers and thoughts will be with you Belle! Having had two heart bypass surgeries, 20 years apart, I know what it is. My last one was in 2000,and I wasn't well to begin with, but I'm still here;-)Be at peace and trust in the Lord, Belle. Things go easier when you can avoid being uptight...Excellent poem!

You are like family to me. You have been with me during some very difficult times in my life and I love you for that. Please know that my heart will be with you, if I could give you mine I would. My Dear Friend, My prayers for you will be there. I want to ease your mind I had open heart surgery in 1986 so I know a little about. My body was sore for abot 30 hours and that was it. Your lifestyle may change but you can still be active. GOD BLESS YOU Always.

Belle, either way, you have nothing to fear, why, cause you'll always be here, your soul will always survive in your poetry for others to see, by the way at age seven, I had an afterlife experience, nearly a year of severe kidney poisoning, and a forbidden peace of Black Forest Cake by mother, put me there, it is true what they say, the light that you follow up is most beautiful, that is where your soul wants to travel, I would have stayed, but a big hypo in my ass brought me back. I at that time, had not experienced much, if any religious thought, or any about the afterlife, so this was as it is, as I said either way, you are loved.
